POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIPS AT AKRON CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL: We are pleased to announce the availability of two postdoctoral fellowships in child clinical/pediatric psychology beginning September 2012. Training is focused on three clinical tracks available: 1) behavioral medicine consultation/liaison service 2) behavioral medicine outpatient treatment 3) neuropsychological assessment. Fellows are encouraged to individualize their training based upon interest and career goals. Cross-training between available clinical tracks and rotations is encouraged. The Behavioral Medicine C/L Service provides both inpatient and outpatient consultation with hospital staff and empirically supported treatment to patients and families. Current clinical rotations include: inpatient floors, hematology/oncology, palliative care, rehabilitative services, burn center, pulmonology, pain center and the day treatment rehabilitation program. The behavioral medicine outpatient treatment track focuses on providing empirical108 ly supported treatments to children presenting with medical conditions or physical complaints in which psychological factors are judged to be related to the cause, exacerbation, or maintenance of symptoms. Primary clinical populations include: headache, tics/Tourette, sleep disorders, or concussion/head injury. Outpatient followup of patients treated via the C/L service is also required. The neuropsychological assessment track offers advanced training in neuropsychological evaluation of children in a medical setting. Clinical populations include: CNS disorders, medical disorders with CNS involvement, and disorders of learning and behavior. While the fellow’s principle responsibility is outpatient evaluation, opportunities for inpatient assessment, service on multidisciplinary evaluation/treatment teams, and consultation with medical subspecialty groups are available. In addition to clinical rotations, fellows will receive formal instruction on topics related to clinical training and participate in weekly group supervision and professional development. Fellows will actively participate in the teaching of medical residents and fellows within the hospital. Multiple research opportunities are available to meet the fellow’s interests and career goals, though the focus of this fellowship is clinical training. Fellows collaborate with our second-year psychology fellows, psychiatry fellows, and developmental-behavioral pediatric fellows. The second year is contingent upon satisfactory completion of the first year. This residency provides advanced training with an emphasis on the evaluation of the neurocognitive impact of such conditions as dementia, TBI, neurologic and psychiatric disorders. The resident works closely with interdisciplinary specialists from neurology, psychiatry, general medicine, and the polytrauma/ TBI program and receives extensive training based on a nomothetic, disease impact framework that integrates medical, neurological, and behavioral data with test findings based upon the literature in order to answer complex referral questions. Didactic experiences expose the resident to the neuropsychology and neurology/neuropsychiatry literature and behavioral neurology and neuroanatomy. We adhere to the Houston Conference Guidelines on postdoctoral training in clinical neuropsychology. Upon completion of the program, the resident will have advanced competence and preparation for board certification in clinical neuropsychology (ABCN) through ABPP. OKLAHOMA ASSISTANT PROFESSOR IN QUANTITATIVE PSYCHOLOGY: The University of Oklahoma Department of Psychology announces a tenure track assistant professor level opening in the area of quantitative psychology. We invite applicants from any area of quantitative methods. The minimum qualification for the position is a doctoral degree in quantitative methods in psychology or a highly related discipline within psychology. (Ph.D. must be completed by hire date.)
