Trainee Lounge Hours Today: 7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Tuesday: 7:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon About Smoldering Multiple Myeloma (SMM) Smoldering multiple myeloma (SMM) is an asymptomatic condition that over time will transition into the malignant disease of multiple myeloma (MM). Study Overview Janssen Research, a unit of Centocor Research and Development, Inc., is conducting a study on SMM. In a global study 50 high-risk SMM subjects will be randomized to study drug and 50 subjects will be randomized to placebo (same drug without active ingredient). The study is double-blind, that is both doctors and patients will not know if the study drug or placebo will be given. The study intends to evaluate and/or follow subjects for 4-5 years. Trainee Simultaneous Didactic Sessions 12:15 - 1:15 p.m. Didactic sessions are designed to offer trainees an overview of timely and relevant career-oriented issues. A boxed lunch will be provided. Space is available on a first-come, first-served basis. As seating is limited, attendees are strongly encouraged to arrive early. No additional persons will be allowed in the rooms Primary Objective The primary objective of the study is to evaluate the 1-year progression-free survival (PFS) rate in patients with smoldering multiple myeloma (MM) with an investigational medication. On-Demand Webcasts n-demand webcasts of all of the Education Program sessions and the Special Lectures from this year’s annual meeting will be available on the ASH website (www.hematology.org) after the meeting. Users will be able to hear audio recordings of the presentations while viewing associated color slides.
