Tickets are good seven days after purchase. In 1542, Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo led the first European expedition to explore what is now the west coast of the United States. The event was memorialized in 1913 with the establishment of Cabrillo National Monument, featuring a statue of the Spanish explorer and an interactive museum featuring his exploits. Old Point Loma Lighthouse, the highest point in the park, offers a spectacular view of the city and, on the clearest days, Mexico.
