Ski season 2011 saw incredible heights and depths of snow, the most recorded in the past 20 years. With all that snow came an inordinate amount of skier visits to the resorts for the season. According to NSAA, 20102011 saw 60.54 million skier visits to the nation’s ski areas. Nearly a dozen areas were open on July 4 and had more than 50,000 visits on that one day alone! Boreal even had skiers on the hill on July 25. Incredible! What will the 2012 season bring us? However much snow we get, each new season brings with it, a chance to escape to a beautiful winter wonderland. To wake up on a cold, snowy morning, be the first one to hit the trail, making fresh tracks down your favorite run. Aaahhh, there’s nothing quite like it! FWSA clubs ventured to many ski areas in 2011, and will take us to the likes of Whitefish, Telluride, Big White / Silver Star, Steamboat and Vail in 2012, plus many more resorts. Far West provides many opportunities to cash in on the bargains from our lodging partners, such as The Grand Sierra Resort & Spa in Reno, Horizon Casino Resort in Lake Tahoe or The Painted Buffalo Inn in Jackson Hole; and a host of ski shops offering up great discounts, like Sports Exchange or Dave’s Ski & Board Shop in Truckee.
