editor’s letter Making Every Moment Count the ladies and gentleman of The Ritz-Carlton take great pleasure in creating personalized weddings that delight brides, grooms and guests with wonderful elements of surprise. With each issue of Weddings by The Ritz-Carlton we strive for that same reaction. In the pages to come, you’ll find articles covering some of the most popular topics — jewelry, stationary and wedding photography, for example. But there are also plenty of surprises. Take our fashion feature, for example. When I walked down the aisle, white, white and more white were the color options for my gown. I never would have thought about a lime-green dress. But I’m in love with the Vera Wang gown that opens “And the Bride Wore ... Color.” Equally enticing is our culinary feature “Local Flavors.” Some of my most memorable weddings have incorporated local cuisine: a lobster and clam bake at a New England wedding, a ceviche bar with amazingly fresh fish in Puerto Rico and Maryland crab cakes at a wedding at Chesapeake Bay. From Jakarta, Indonesia, to Denver, Colo., we share some of the favorite local ingredients of Ritz-Carlton chefs around the world, with insights into how they use them to make their wedding menus unforgettable. And in keeping with tradition, we take you to a destination wedding, this time The Ritz-Carlton, Sanya. In “Seaside in Sanya,” you’ll meet a couple from Moscow who flew 12 of their loved ones 4,000 miles to this tropical paradise in China. The weekend-long celebration included plenty of time for hanging out with guests before the Big Day. In fact, the bachelorette activities (captured in the photo above) are a highlight of this feature.
