Pay it Back by Paying it Forward
Alumni Association announces 100th anniversary scholarship Did	you	receive	a	scholarship	when	you	attended	the	School	of	Pharmacy? Have	you	ever	wanted	to	“pay	it	forward”?	Now’s	your	chance. Did	you	know	that	when	the	school	began	100	years	ago	tuition	was	$75 per	year?	Today,	the	price	of	in-state	tuition	for	a	pharmacy	student	is	approximately	$20,000	per	year!	In	comparison,	a	brand	new	car	has	increased	by	2600	percent	during	that	time,	while	tuition	has	increased by	nearly	26,000	percent! “We	decided	we	needed	to	do	something	significant	in	celebration	of the	school’s	100th	anniversary,”	says	Carl	Pansini,	BS	’80	and	Alumni Association	president.	The	goal	of	the	scholarship	is	to	raise	in	excess	of $100,000	and	then	provide	one	full-year	award	(in-state	tuition	of	$20,000) for	a	scholar	selected	from	each	class	(P1-4),	one	PhD	candidate	and	one non-traditional	PharmD	student.	“This	is	a	huge	goal,	but	in	this	day	and age	when	pharmacy	school	is	so	expensive	we	think	it	important	to	make	a big	impact.” It’s	easy	to	donate.	Give	$10,	$100,	$1,000	or	$10,000	–	whatever	you	can afford.	“We	encourage	you	to	get	together	with	former	classmates	and	give	a class	donation	or	obtain	matching	contributions	from	your	employer.	Every dollar	counts!”	The	scholarships	will	be	awarded	at	the	end	of	this anniversary	year. Give	now	by	completing	the	card	included	and	send	your	payment	to	CU Foundation	or	visit	www.cufund.org/Pharmacy100thAnniv	to	make	your gift	online.
